The 4 Best Tasting Protein Powder Flavors For Your Enjoyment

Remember the days when protein powder was a chore to get down? You’d have to plug your nose, hold your breathe, and just chug the stuff. It was so thick that you practically had to chew it.

Nasty.

Thankfully, “technology” has come a long way and now produces excellent tasting protein powders—and in a huge variety of flavors, none the less.

But, there are still some gremlins out there. Protein powders that you’d rather forget.

Thankfully, I’ve compiled 7 of the best tasting protein powder flavors currently on the market for your enjoyment. If you stick to these protein powders, you’ll be just fine!

The 7 Best Tasting Protein Powder Flavors

#1: RED Supplements Ice Cream Whey

Frankly, I decided that it was simply too hard to pick just one of these excellent flavors from the RED Supplements brand.

(As a side note, they carry some other great products like RED Focus and RED-PCT.)

Thankfully, they offer a “Neopolitan” bundle that lets you try all of them—chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. If I absolutely had to pick one of them, I’d probably go the strawberry route. It’s really just like eating ice cream.

Even vanilla, which I think is probably the most generic, bland, and disgusting protein powder flavor on the planet, is excellent with the formula RED Supplements has put together.

If you want the absolute best tasting protein powder, get one of the RED Supplements Ice Cream Whey flavors.

#2: Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard

best tasting protein powders

This is probably the best recognized whey protein brand out there on the market. And for good reason—ONGS has been a high-quality whey protein for a very long time.

They’ve created some of the best tasting protein powders…and also some of the worst 🙂

With that being said, here are the best tasting flavors they have (in my humble opinion):

  • Chocolate Peanut Butter
  • Extreme Milk Chocolate
  • Chocolate Mint
  • Rocky Road

As you can see, most of these are more chocolate-based. Repeatedly, I’ve found that their lighter-colored protein powders are just flavorless “blah”. Stick with their chocolate-based protein powders that are darker in color, and you’ll be just fine.

With that being said, I would stay away from these flavors:

  • Banana Cream
  • French Vanilla Creme
  • Key Lime Pie

Of course, these are just my personal preferences. If you truly are a key lime pie lover, don’t let me stop you from getting it. But, if you’re a newbie who is looking for your first protein powder, I’d be far more inclined to advise you to stick to the more “traditional” flavors.

#3: IsoPure

What I love about IsoPure is that they make coffee-flavored protein powders. As you guys have undoubtedly realized by now, I love my coffee. I think it’s one of the most underrated supplements and Nootropics out there on the market.

IsoPure has some excellent coffee flavors that you can try if you’re a coffee lover:

  • Colombian Coffee
  • Espresso

In addition, most of their other flavors are good, too.

#4: Animal Protein

These guys have some badass naming and branding with their whey protein. And, they make some of the best tasting protein powders out there on the market, too.

The Frosted Cinnamon Bun flavor is something that I haven’t seen a lot of, and it’s truly excellent. Red Velvet is another unique flavor that is actually pretty good (unlike some of the other bizarre flavors you find across the market—I’m looking at you, key lime pie).

They have 11 total flavors.

Best Tasting Protein Powder—Closing Thoughts

Hunting endlessly for a stomach-able protein powder doesn’t have to be a huge chore. Stick to the more traditional flavors, find a brand you like, and you’ll be well on your way.

Having good protein powder that you can actually enjoy is a key part of building muscle and getting in the best shape of your life.
